The Andrew Dougherty Vision Foundation joined Moroccan partners for two June campaigns that provided 909 ophthalmology consultations and 231 cataract surgeries, according to an activity report from the Moroccan Medical Association for Solidarity.
The campaigns took place June 4-14, 2026, in Tiddas and Maaziz in Khemisset province and Moulay Bouazza in Khenifra province. Together, the teams performed 246 surgical procedures, including 15 pterygium procedures, the report said.
An eight-person ADVF delegation joined the campaign on June 7 and participated in both missions. The foundation donated 97 intraocular lenses used during the campaigns. These lenses replace the eye’s clouded natural lens during cataract surgery.
The Moroccan Medical Association for Solidarity, known as AMMS, coordinated clinical care and supplied medications, equipment and two mobile surgical units. The units moved from Tiddas to Moulay Bouazza for the second campaign. Local organizations supported community outreach and logistics.
In Tiddas, teams completed 277 consultations and 97 cataract surgeries. In Moulay Bouazza, they completed 632 consultations and 134 cataract surgeries, according to the report.
ADVF continues to work with Moroccan partners on future missions and opportunities for medical professionals and other volunteers.
