From Gala to Global Impact: Preparing for the Morocco Mission 2025

The Andrew Dougherty Vision Foundation’s recent “Saving the Sight of the World” Gala marked a powerful milestone—not simply as a celebration, but as a defining moment that helps make our upcoming Morocco Mission possible.

The gala brought together supporters, partners, artists, medical professionals, and community members who share a belief that preventable blindness should not exist anywhere in the world. Their presence and participation reflect a growing commitment to advancing access to high-quality vision care for individuals and communities who are too often left without options.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of this community, the gala raised $107,000 in direct support and secured more than $300,000 in in-kind medical donations. These combined resources are now being mobilized to fund ADVF’s December 2025 ophthalmic mission to Chefchaouen Province, Morocco—supporting surgical care, medical supplies, and clinician training essential to the mission’s success.

The Morocco Mission will bring together world-class ophthalmic surgeons, local medical partners, and advanced technologies to deliver sight-restoring surgeries for individuals who otherwise lack access to care. Equally important, the mission emphasizes hands-on training and collaboration with local clinicians to strengthen long-term eye care capacity within the region. This approach reflects ADVF’s commitment to sustainable, partnership-driven solutions rather than short-term intervention alone.

Every aspect of this mission is guided by respect for local expertise and a shared goal of lasting impact. By combining clinical excellence with education and innovation, ADVF works to ensure that restored sight leads to restored independence, opportunity, and dignity for patients and their families.
